South Africa continued with their dominance in the ITF 12 years and under Juniors Tennis tournament at the Bulawayo Country Club in Zimbabwe on Friday.
The hosts Zimbabwe beat Mozambique 3-0 in the boys. Zimbabwe’s Mengezi Sibanda was stretched to three sets by Luca Figueirrgo of Mozambique after winning the first set 6-1; he then lost the second set 5-7. Sibanda got a scare but held his nerve to win the third set 6-4 and won the match 2-1.
In the second singles match Marko Milosavevic did well to beat Edilson Rosa of Mozambique in two sets 6-0, 6-2. Takura Mwandagara combined with Milosavevic to beat Figueirrogo and Rosa 6-1, 6-3 in two sets for Zimbabwe to clinch victory over Mozambique 3-0.
Earlier on South Africa had continued with their dominance in this Juniors tournament beating Botswana 3-0. Guy Vormerk won 6-1, 6-0. Jordan Georgiev won 6-2, 6-1, Georgieve and Molefe combined to beat the pair of Mathehsen and Saleshando 6-1, 6-1 for South Africa to record another win in the boys.
On Saturday Botswana meet Mozambique, Madagascar play Zimbabwe, while on Sunday Zimbabwe will meet Botswana with Madagascar set to face red hot South Africa in the boys section to complete the round robin fixtures.
Still in the boys on Wednesday South Africa beat Zimbabwe 2-1, Madagascar beat Botswana 3-0. On Thursday Madagascar beat Botswana 2-1 and South Africa outclassed Mozambique 3-0.
In the girls section South Africa beat Botswana 3-0 as the Zimbabwe girls were shocked by Madagascar 2-1. The girls saw Tadiwanashe Mauchi fall 6-0, 6-1 and Tanyaradzwa Midzi win her singles matche 6-1, 6-1. In the doubles Mauchi partnered Chimedza and lost 6-4, 6-7(3) and 10-3
On Saturday in the girls Botswana will play Madagascar and the big one will see Zimbabwe face South Africa. On Thursday Zimbabwe had done well to beat Botswana in the girls 3-0.
